Biography
Robert J. Shilliday III
Robert “Rob” Shilliday focuses his practice upon bankruptcy and insolvency, out-of-court workouts to avoid the need for bankruptcy relief, business dissolution and receiverships, and complex commercial litigation. After serving as a law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, Rob maintained a thriving bankruptcy and litigation practice in California before moving to Colorado in 2004. Rob has successfully guided hundreds of individual and business entities through Chapter 7 liquidation, reorganization under Chapters 11, 12, and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code, workouts, and the prosecution and defense of non-discharge adversary proceedings, preferences, relief from stay, and other bankruptcy litigation matters. Rob’s practice also focuses upon guiding clients through the difficulties of business dissolutions and the complex legal and financial issues created when former business partners decide to separate. Through his litigation practice, Rob has represented numerous clients in state and federal court throughout the United States in disputes involving fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, trade secret misappropriation, and violation of consumer protection laws.
Combining his significant experience in bankruptcy and litigation, Rob offers a unique prospective to resolving complex financial problems. Rob is licensed to practice law in California and Colorado and frequently lectures on bankruptcy, insolvency, asset protection, and litigation-related topics and is a contributor to the Annual Survey of Law published by the Colorado Bar Association.
Outside the practice of law, Rob is an accomplished drummer and percussionist and plays in several rock, rhythm and blues, and jazz bands in Denver. Please excuse his constant foot tapping and finger drumming. Rob also enjoys learning foreign languages and travelling with his family.
